In a bizarre and controversial incident, Pastor Greg Locke of the Global Vision Bible Church in Tennessee unleashed a frenzied outburst against what he deemed as “strongholds” of evil spirits. Here’s the full story.
Demolish the House of Evil
The incident unfolded during a sermon on “deliverance,” where Locke read a passage from 2 Corinthians 10:4 with a Barbie dream house next to him and with a bible taped to a baseball bat.
After reading the passage, Locke said, “It means you demolish the house that the evil spirit left when you kicked it out. So maybe in our Global Vision store, we need to start selling Bible bats in the name of Jesus.”
Locke went on to say “Because what some of you need to understand is that you’ve been delivered from the demon, but you’ve not pulled down the stronghold yet.”
“The demon comes out when you expel it. The stronghold comes down when you demolish it with the Bible!” he added.
He Smashed the Barbie House
This passionate declaration took an unexpected turn when Locke dropped his microphone and proceeded to violently smash the Barbie Dream House with the baseball bat.
The crowd shared their support, with many applauding and appreciating the actions.
However, this was not the first time Locke made these types of controversial actions.
He has a long and contentious history of making anti-LGBTQ+ comments, branding LGBTQ+ individuals with derogatory labels such as “demonic” and “perverted.”
The Book Burning Event
In February 2022, Locke alarmed many by threatening to expose six alleged witches within his congregation.
During the same month, he organized a book-burning event where Harry Potter books and Disney products were set ablaze.
The demolition of the Barbie Dream House could potentially be linked to the controversy surrounding Greta Gerwig’s highly successful live-action Barbie-themed film.
Right-wing pastor Kent Christmas from Tennessee had vocally opposed the movie ahead of its release, denouncing it as a vehicle for promoting transgenderism and homosexuality.
God Is Love and Acceptance
Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “This is just a bigoted form of virtue signaling, right? Like, “LOOK how great of a hateful loser I am as I destroy this harmless kid’s toy because of culture war.”
Another User wrote, “Wow uh… that’s…incredibly disrespectful to the Bible. Sacrilegious pompous hypocrites who celebrate violence and use their religion as an excuse to bash and persecute others is why I left the church.”
A third user commented, “It is ridiculous to think that this kind of modern american christianity is actually Christianity.”
A fourth user wrote, “This represents a God of hate and fear, laughable but not for the children exposed to it. God is love and acceptance and personal, nobody needs these ‘priests’. Quiet your mind, reach out and become all that’s around you where you belong, a part of something really special.”
