In a recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, results showcase a notable level of skepticism and dissatisfaction among the American population towards President Biden.
Too Old
They have issues with key areas such as the economy, immigration policies, and involvement in international conflicts and show concerns over Biden’s age as he eyes a potential second term in office.
Polls show that 74% of Americans believe that Biden is too old for another term, with 50% believing that Trump is also too old for a second Presidency.
There is an increasing perception that the United States might be extending too much aid to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia, further fueling debates and divisions.
As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it seems that President Biden and former President Donald Trump may be on a collision course for a rematch of their 2020 contest.
Who Else Is Up for the Job?
Within the Democratic party, there is an interesting dynamic at play as more than 60% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning individuals expressed a preference for a nominee other than President Biden.
The question on everyone’s mind is simple: Who else would be up for the challenge?
Despite facing multiple criminal charges, Trump has maintained a strong position within the Republican landscape, maintaining significant favorability among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents.
His popularity remains largely unchanged from May, cementing the influence he continues to wield within his party.
Hold Him to Account
A large portion of Americans believe that Trump is being held accountable under the law for his actions, while others perceive him as being unfairly victimized due to political motivations.
This divergence in opinions is also evident in the case of Biden, where opinions are divided on whether he is being held accountable under the law or being unfairly targeted through an impeachment inquiry.
In terms of approval ratings, President Biden’s figures stood at 37%; his overall approval remains similar to that of May but has dipped since February when it was at 42%. Since the ABC poll, Biden’s rating has dropped to 30%, the lowest since his presidency.
On the contrary, disapproval ratings are higher at 56%, consistent with recent public polls.
A Lot of Missed Votes
A large group of Americans who admit they didn’t vote in the 2020 election have shown backing towards Trump for the coming election, counting for 15% of registered voters, with 63% of the group favoring Trump.
Legal experts argue that Trump should be disqualified from this year’s election due to his alleged impact on the January 6th riots on Capitol Hill.
Trump falsely claimed that Biden’s 2020 election win was “rigged,” and polls suggest that 60% of Americans believe that Biden was legitimately elected, with 40% backing Trump’s lies.
With Biden’s momentum in the polls slowly decreasing, could this be it for the 81-year-old?
