The development of Apex Legends
A previous game developed by Respawn Entertainment was Titanfall (2014), followed by Titanfall 2 (2016), both released by Electronic Arts (EA), which took over Respawn Entertainment some time later in 2017.
Mackey McCandlish, Respawn’s design director, says Apex Legends began before Titanfall 2 was released, and in the year 2018, Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall team began work on the game. The game’s executive producer Drew McCoy said the work didn’t start until spring 2017. A total of 115 developers worked on the game, which was by far the studio’s biggest and most labor-intensive project ever. Compared to Titanfall 2, there were approximately 85 developers on the game.
Apex Legends is a multiplayer online battle royale game where you play as a squad of three pre-created characters with a unique set of abilities referred to as “Legends”, similar to heroes in other games.
During “Battle Royale” up to 20 squads of three players or 30 pairs of two players explore an island in search of supplies and weapons before engaging in combat with all the other players.
Titanfall and Apex Legends share the same fictional universe, and several Titanfall characters appear in the game as playable Legends or minor characters.
In general, each match consists of twenty three-player squads. Squads can be formed by friends or by random matches.
There are 13 seasons in the game. New seasons usually bring new playable characters, as well as new weapons and cosmetics that can be purchased as part of the game.
There are many renowned gamers around the world who have played Apex Legends, like Ninja, TimTheTatman, VanossGaming, Jacksepticeye, among others.
