President Joe Biden is again under scrutiny for his remarks, claiming that his administration has accomplished remarkable feats, including “ending cancer as we know it.” Here’s the whole story.
The controversial statement was made during a discussion at the White House about expanding access to mental health care.
On Tuesday, July 25, Biden responded to a question about his vision for achieving significant accomplishments, stating that he would cure cancer.
He said, “One of the things I’m always asked is why Americans have sort of lost faith for a while in being able to do big things. If you could do anything at all, Joe, what would you do? I said I’d cure cancer. They looked at me like, why cancer? Because no one thinks we can. That’s why, and we can. We ended cancer as we know it.”
Dementia and Decline
However, the president’s assertion has drawn widespread criticism on social media, with some users fact-checking and mocking the remark.
Critics on social media pointed to concerns about President Biden’s intellectual abilities, with some suggesting that his statement reflects issues related to dementia.
They sarcastically joked that the president now believes he has cured cancer due to the severity of his cognitive decline.
“Cancer-Curing Child-Sniffing Cocaine-Doing Hero”
One user wrote, “Biden just announced that he’s cured cancer. Yes, he seriously did. We are an international joke.”
A Twitter user commented, “Hey, Joe Biden cured cancer, everybody! He just announced it! He did it with all the money Hunter got him from other countries! He’s a cancer-curing child-sniffing cocaine-doing hero! Bow down, Democrats, to the end of cancer hero!”
Another user humorously referenced President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, who is facing federal tax charges, by ranking him as the “smartest person” Joe Biden knows.
“Saving the Universe”
A third user commented, “Trump said we should inject bleach to cure Covid. These guys were never the same,” another user wrote, “Next he saved the universe. From what? Who knows? He will find something.”
This is not the first time President Biden has faced criticism for his public speaking.
On July 20, during a discussion about the success of “Bidenomics,” he made another controversial statement. He said, “I often say, and I mean this sincerely, Wall Street — good folks down there — but they didn’t build the middle class. They didn’t build America. The middle class was built by the middle class.”
The comment was seen as a misrepresentation of economic history and was met with backlash from critics who disagreed with his perspective.
