Biden’s Heart-Wrenching Mishandled Exit From Afghanistan – The New Book Exposes President’s Alleged Insensitivity to Gold Star Families

A new book reveals President Biden’s lack of empathy toward families of fallen service members and his failure to acknowledge their names after the mishandled Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021.

Understanding President Joe Biden’s Mishandled Exit From Afghanistan

In a new book titled “Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden’s Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End,” authors Jerry Dunleavy and James Hasson reveal further details about President Joe Biden’s mishandled exit from Afghanistan.

The book, released recently, delves into the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and the subsequent surrender of U.S. forces to the Taliban after years of conflict.

The authors uncover instances of Biden’s treatment of families whose loved ones lost their lives due to the Pentagon’s missteps.

Among the heartbreaking stories, the book highlights how Biden addressed the families of the 13 soldiers who died in a suicide bombing in Kabul.

His Lack of Acknowledgment

These individuals were unnecessarily placed in danger due to Pentagon decisions.

Gold Star mother Shana Chappell, known for her Facebook post criticizing Biden’s role in her son’s death, encountered Biden’s indifference firsthand.

The book excerpts reveal that Biden mentioned his own personal tragedy—the death of his son Beau—to other grieving parents but never referred to the fallen soldiers by their names.

Instead, he used generic terms like “your son” or “your daughter.” This lack of acknowledgment exacerbated the pain of these families, who were seeking comfort and understanding during an immensely difficult time.

“My Heart Started Beating Faster and I Started Shaking, Knowing That Their Son Died From Cancer and They Were Able To Be by His Side”

Cherry Rex, another Gold Star mother, recounted how Biden’s interaction during a dignified transfer ceremony for her son, Marine Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola, focused on his own experiences.

Rex’s son had died in the Kabul bombing. Biden mentioned losing his son and how he understood their pain.

“When he approached me, his words to me were, ‘My wife Jill and I know how you feel. We lost our son as well and brought him home in a flag-draped coffin,’” she said.

Rex added, “My heart started beating faster and I started shaking, knowing that their son died from cancer and they were able to be by his side.”

The Grieving Parents Were Shocked by His Lack of Empathy

His inability to empathize with the unique circumstances faced by these grieving parents left them shocked and hurt.

Paula Knauss Selph, the mother of Army Staff Sgt. Ryan Christian Knauss, who also lost his life in the Kabul attack, shared her disappointment after meeting Biden on Memorial Day.

“I explained to him that I’m never going to hug Kareem again,” Chappell is quoted as saying in the book. “I’m never going to see a smile, I’m never going to hear his voice, and he interrupted me. He started talking about his son Beau.”

She described him as “empty” and lacking in genuine empathy, emphasizing that she had hoped for a leader who would express sorrow for the situation at hand.

His Flawed Execution Led to Their Deaths

Critics argue that the Biden administration’s flawed execution of the Afghanistan withdrawal, despite potential opportunities to backtrack on previous agreements with the Taliban, led to the deaths of these brave service members.

The book, based on comprehensive research, aims to bring to light the untold stories of those affected by the disastrous handling of the withdrawal.
