Comfy Net Worth
It has been reported that since the launch of The Original Comfy, a business that creates blanket-sweatshirts, it has generated more than $150 million in revenue.
Founded by two brothers from Phoenix, AZ, The Original Comfy is a warm and cozy way to stay comfortable during the winter season.
Basically, it’s a sweatshirt-like blanket, which has an exterior made of microfiber and an interior made of wool. Apparently, both sides of the Original Comfy can be worn at the same time, as it is reversible.
Besides having a pocket big enough for your tablet, the Comfy has a hood that can also be used as a pillow. The product comes in one size that fits all and is available in gray, beige, pink, and black.
Founders Michael and Brian Speciale were first-time entrepreneurs from Phoenix, Arizona who had never developed or marketed a product before. Previously, Brian was a television producer.
They’re now both working full-time for The Original Comfy since the company and product have grown considerably over the years. Comfy brothers credit their families for their inspiration and support.
After getting divorced, Michael moved in with Brian, his brother. One day at Brian’s house, Michael saw that his nephew was lying on the sofa enjoying a television show in his father’s large sweater. He snuggled his arms and knees in the sweater in order to stay warm.
Seeing how cozy and appealing it looked, they talked about making one for adults. After seeing a Sherpa blanket nearby, they considered the possibility of using the material to make a giant sweatshirt/blanket combo, thus The Original Comfy was born.
Comfy Shark Tank Pitch
In a recent interview with USA Today, Barbara Corcoran said that The Original Comfy’s “Shark Tank” pitch, featured on season 9 in December 2017, was her “favorite pitch.”
“All they had was a sweatshirt-blanket contraption with a hood; I thought they were crazy,” said Corcoran.
Corcoran made an offer to the founders for $50,000 in exchange for a 30% stake in their company, and they accepted.
What Happened to Comfy after Shark Tank Deal?
Five years have passed since Michael and Brian approached the Sharks with their idea and were able to receive Barbara’s $50,000 investment. Rated as the third biggest hit on Shark Tank, Original Comfy exploded in popularity after appearing on the show.
Barbara Corcoran, one of the Shark investors who invested in this deal, has done very well with her investment so far. Since then, the company has generated revenues of more than $150 million and is one of Shark Tank’s top sellers.
