Fox News host Tucker Carlson agreed with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy’s thoughts on the question of whether Donald Trump and President Joe Biden, both in their 70s, are “too old” to lead the nation. Here’s the full story.
“Rotten and Corrupt.”
During a candid interview on Tucker’s Twitter show, “Tucker on X”, Portnoy expressed his opinion on Trump’s decision to skip the first 2024 Republican primary debate in favor of an interview with Carlson.
He remarked that while he understood the tactical reasoning behind Trump’s choice not to participate in the debate, he believed it would have been beneficial for the country as a whole.
Portnoy said, “To become president, I think it was the right move not to do it, but for the betterment of the country, I think he should be on the debate stage.”
Carlson echoed Portnoy’s thoughts, and he did not shy away from criticizing the companies that host these showdowns, describing them as “rotten and corrupt.”
The conversation then turned to President Biden’s potential candidacy in the 2024 election.
“The Democrats Don’t Think He Can Win”
Portnoy, who clarified that he is not a political expert, voiced his thoughts on a shifting dynamic within the Democratic Party.
He said, “I don’t know, I’m not a political person, but I feel like there’s been a shift where, internally, maybe the Democrats don’t think he can win, and they’re setting the stage [for] somebody else.”
“To be honest, I think both Trump and Biden are too old. I don’t think you should be able to be that old to be president,” he added.
Carlson replied by agreeing with Portnoy’s statement, saying, “I agree 100 percent. I think Biden has got some serious dementia issues.”

“Sharp as a Tack”
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “This needs to be hammered by the other candidates – old AGE is as much an issue for Trump as it is for Biden.”
Another user added, “Sounds to me like age discrimination. This is America, Jack, land of the Free, home of the Brave. A person is allowed to go as far as they want and their abilities take them regardless of age.”
A third user commented, “Trump is still sharp as a tack. He is the person best equipped to sort out the DC and international messes and place things back in order,” while another added, “A person for any position should be evaluated on the basis of mental and physical condition and competence of the person to do the job not based on the person’s age which only is a number.”
