This hilarious story of petty revenge went viral on Reddit recently, and it’s easy to see why! It’s a hilarious story and a fantastic tale of natural revenge.
Lazy Neighboring Construction Workers
Meet our storyteller, a man living on a quiet street on the outskirts of suburbia. He’s a friendly guy who gets along with his neighbors, but there’s one thing that’s been bothering him lately: the lazy construction workers hired by the neighbor opposite.
His neighborhood is full of houses that were built or renovated during the early to mid-2000s. Lately, there have been more work trucks parked around due to some age-related renovations and whatnot.
A Little Rundown
That’s why it was no surprise when the neighbor opposite his home decided it was time to give his house a re-do – the place was starting to look a bit rough around the edges; he’d bought it to rent out, and 15 years of tenants will leave its scars.
This would not have been a story, except that the company hired by the neighbor has the laziest crew imaginable!
They cannot stand walking 25 yards, even in the low 60s F (18C). So instead, they park their trucks right in front of and opposite our storyteller’s house, making it impossible for him to get in and out of his driveway unless you are on a bike or in a small car.
Please Park Elsewhere!
Despite his requests to park elsewhere, the workers paid no attention and continued to park their “man-sized” pickup trucks in front of his house. Even the owner of the house couldn’t do much to control the situation as he lived 60-70 miles away. Complaints to the police also proved futile as it was a private road.
He was at his wit’s end until he had an idea. Three massive trees line the front of his property, with branches hanging well over the street. The OP knew that birds love to perch in trees, so he decided to turn his front yard into a bird paradise.
Hatches a Plan
He did some research on the types of birds that are around at this time of year and what would lure them. Then he went out and bought tons of bird feeders and the tools to get them safely into the trees. He thinks he had around 100 of them, and it took him the whole day on Friday to put them all up!
The next day, he noticed that more birds had flocked to his property, but it was nothing out of the ordinary as he usually sees many birds chirping in late March.
However, things took a turn for the better when the trucks returned and parked in their usual anti-social spots somewhere around 8 am on Monday.
The Natural Rhythm
The trees filled up with birds around 9 to 10 am and started gorging themselves on the now insane amounts of food. When the OP opened a window, a cacophony of biblical proportions greeted him.
He was in his kitchen watching as the guys came to their trucks for lunch at 1 pm. He heard their swearing clearly through closed windows. When he took a peek, he saw the birds had absolutely covered their trucks in bird poop!
Covered in Poop!
Not just a little bit, but literally, absolutely covered. The hood, roof, truck bed, equipment in the bed, windshield, mirrors, and door handles; the bird poop covered everything! It was horrifically awesome!
The workers had to clean for an hour just to drive their trucks, as the bird poop had covered the windows, making them unable to see anything!
He’s writing this on a Wednesday, two days later, and their trucks are now parked far away. But driving past, you can still see that there are still signs of Monday’s carnage on them!
Petty Revenge
Luckily, apart from some nasty looks, no one has said a word. Not one word. It’s petty, but it’s revenge, and it’s made the OP feel very satisfied.
So what can we learn from this story? First, problems can have natural solutions if you’re willing to think outside the box.
Second, revenge doesn’t always have to involve physical harm or aggression. Sometimes, a little bit of pettiness can go a long way. It might not be the most mature solution, but it worked.
Pretty Birds
And finally, birds are pretty awesome creatures that can bring a little bit of joy into our lives.
As for our storyteller, he’s happy to have his driveway back and to see the birds enjoying their new feeding station.
He might even become a full-fledged bird person in the future. Who knows? Maybe he’ll start wearing a birdwatcher’s hat and carrying around binoculars!
He’s Content With his Birdlike Victory
But for now, he’s content with his small victory and the knowledge that problems can have natural solutions.
Reddit users loved his story of petty revenge. One user said, “This is one of the best petty acts of revenge I have ever read! Good for you. You’re an absolute genius! And I’m sure the birds appreciated all that extra food too!”
