He had been Bower’s attorney almost a decade ago. During that time, he recommended Bower plead guilty to the other four charges.
Bower threatened that he would kill Hostilo upon his release from prison, but Mike thought it was nothing more than empty bluster.
Following Mike’s detention for just over 24 hours, he talked to him and arranged for a friend at the university to contact Bower and obtain legal assistance for Mike if he would let him go.
With the help of FBI guards around them, he went out of the office and talked to his college buddy. Mike said that he didn’t realize how serious the situation was until his father broke down in tears after he left.
