Former President Donald Trump recently reignited a long-standing conspiracy theory, suggesting that former President Barack Obama is secretly pulling the strings in the White House, controlling President Joe Biden. Here’s the whole story.
Biden Not the Decision-Maker
During a campaign stop in New Hampshire, Trump explicitly said, “It’s never been worse than it is now under crooked Joe Biden and, frankly, his boss, Barack Hussein Obama. I think it’s his boss.”
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly hinted at the idea that someone else is actually in charge, alleging that Biden is “incapable of making decisions” and implying that other decision-makers are operating in the background.
During discussions about budget negotiations, Trump seemed to imply that Biden was not the one calling the shots, saying, “I don’t ever think he knows what’s going on.”
Biden’s Boss
At his campaign event in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Trump went even further, suggesting that Obama had a hand in potential world conflicts. He said, “Obama has plenty to do with it. I call him Biden’s boss.”
While this isn’t the first time Trump has alluded to this theory, it has gained traction in conservative circles, particularly after a video from 2020 resurfaced, in which Obama jokingly mentioned having a stand-in with an earpiece to “stay out of the spotlight.”
The Theory
This snippet was initially delivered in a humorous context but has been misinterpreted to fit the narrative of Obama secretly controlling the administration.
Media outlets have also fueled this conspiracy theory by linking it to concerns about Biden’s age and capabilities, which have been raised in public polling as worries for voters.
However, no credible evidence supports the notion that Obama has more influence over the current administration than offering suggestions or occasionally participating in meetings with President Biden.
Trump’s Supporters Embraced the Idea
Even before Trump explicitly endorsed this idea, many supporters had already embraced the notion that Obama was still in charge.
Some Trump supporters believe that “somebody’s got to be behind the scenes doing it,” suggesting that Obama is probably running the show.
Obama’s Intention
Others claimed that Obama signaled his intention to remain in power even before the end of his second term.
In a speech to the African Union in 2015, he unequivocally stated, “Nobody should be president for life.”

Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “I mean, Trump’s boss is Putin, so obviously Biden has to have a boss, and it has to be Obama, right? That’s how that scale works, is it?”
Another user added, “Joe Biden has zero Leadership qualities…..ZERO!! We see that Biden does as Obama tells him to.”
A third user commented, “If Obama wasn’t still involved now, he would (and should) be furious at the Biden’s for operating behind his back, playing him for a fool and tarnishing his Presidency. Unless, of course, Obama knew.”

A fourth user wrote, “Partially right, people need to really look at who’s truly running the world. Joe Biden’s job is to be the fall guy; the guy to blame, so you don’t look for the true masters of the universe.”
