In a recent interview, Orbán suggested that the only viable solution to the Ukraine crisis is to “bring Donald Trump back.” Here’s the whole story.
“Peace. Immediately, Call Back Trump”
Orbán’s remarks came during a conversation with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“So if you were in charge of NATO, if you were, say, Joe Biden, what would your next move be in the war in Ukraine? What would you do?” Tucker Carlson asked Orbán.
Orbán’s response was, “Peace. Immediately, call back Trump.” He elaborated on his perspective, citing Trump’s foreign policy as a key factor in resolving the situation.
Despite acknowledging that Trump has been criticized, Orbán praised the former president’s diplomatic approach.
“He’s Criticized That He’s Not, You Know, He’s Not Educated Enough To Understand the World”
Orbán said, “That’s the only way out. Call back Trump because, you know, you can criticize him for many reasons. I understand all the discussion. But, you know, the best foreign policy of the recent several decades belongs to him.”
The Hungarian PM highlighted Trump’s tenure as characterized by a lack of new wars initiated and diplomatic engagement with global leaders, including those of North Korea, Russia, and China.
He defended Trump against claims that he lacked sufficient education to comprehend global affairs. He emphasized that Trump’s policies were guided by facts and yielded favorable outcomes.
Orbán said, “He’s criticized that he’s not, you know, he’s not educated enough to understand the world. But this is not the case. Facts count.”
“Trump Is the Man Who Can Save the Western World”
Orbán asserted that under Trump’s leadership, the Russian invasion of Ukraine “would not have been possible.” He asserted, “Trump is the man who can save the Western world.”
Viktor Orbán’s close ties to Moscow are well-documented, with his government maintaining a strong alliance with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime.
Despite Hungary’s membership in the European Union, Orbán’s stance on the Ukraine conflict has been contentious.
His reluctance to support EU sanctions against Russia and refusal to facilitate the transfer of Western weapons across Hungary’s border with Ukraine has drawn criticism.
“It’s a Very Communist Methodology To Do That”
Former President Donald Trump reacted to Orbán’s comments by sharing a clip of the interview on his Truth Social platform and wrote, “Thank you, Viktor Orbán!”
In addition to discussing the Ukraine crisis, Orbán also took the opportunity to critique the multiple federal indictments that Trump has faced.
He said, “To use the justice system against the political opponents … That was done by the Communists.” “It’s a very Communist methodology to do that,” he concluded.
“How Much Did Trump Pay This Guy To Say a Ridiculous Statement?”
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident. One user wrote, “Does Viktor Orbán mean like how he rules over Hungary as a dictator!”
Another user added, “How much did Trump pay this guy to say a ridiculous statement?”
