Robert Kiyosaki Early years

As a fourth-generation Japanese American, Kiyosaki was raised in Hilo, Hawaii. Kiyosaki’s father Ralph worked as a college professor. In his later life, he was unemployed, despite having a Ph.D. Robert’s father’s story inspired him to formulate bold, but practical views about how to succeed.

After high school, he studied at the Naval Academy and had a brief time in the U.S. Marine Corps. Between 1972 and 1973, he flew helicopter gunships in Vietnam.

After serving as a Marine, Kiyosaki attended his local college. His business career began after he received his MBA. It was in Xerox’s sales department that he gained his first experience in the business.

Robert Kiyosaki Failures in business

To be an instant millionaire, you have to be extraordinarily lucky. Robert Kiyosaki was not such a person. There were a few bumps in his path to success.

He began his own business in 1977 after saving up money from his job. His company made velcro wallets but didn’t prioritize quality. That led to its bankruptcy. His next project was to print shirts for heavy metal bands in 1980. Sadly, this was also a failure.

Both attempts failed and left him with enormous debt and insufficient funds. Due to this, he ended up homeless and broke.
