Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former contestant on “The Apprentice” and a one-time member of the Trump administration, recently opened up about her experiences working with former President Donald Trump in a candid interview. Here’s what she said.
“I Fell for a Con Man”
In a conversation with Entertainment Tonight, Omarosa, now 49 years old, revealed her feelings about her association with Donald Trump.
“For me, I just can’t believe I fell for a con man, a con man who turned out to be the biggest fraud. I mean, literally found by the courts to be a big fraud, so a lot of the backdrop of our show, a lot of ‘The Apprentice’ that we thought was real was fabricated, and it was just a house of cards,” she said.
“So, I mean, we were duped, and we were young entrepreneurs thinking that we were really gonna learn something from this brilliant businessman. All we learned was not the art of the deal but the art of the con,” she added.
Manigault Newman initially gained national prominence as a contestant on the reality TV show “The Apprentice,” where Donald Trump served as the central figure.
Fired!
Following her stint on “The Apprentice,” Omarosa continued to work closely with Donald Trump.
She joined the Trump administration in January 2017 as the assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison.
However, her tenure in the White House was marked by controversy, and she was ultimately fired by then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly in December 2017.
One of the notable controversies during her time in the administration revolved around her allegations that she possessed tapes in which Donald Trump expressed surprise and ignorance regarding her firing.
“Wacky Omarosa”
In one such tape, Trump can be heard saying, “Omarosa? Omarosa what’s going on? I just saw on the news that you’re thinking about leaving. What happened?”
To this, she replied that General Kelly had informed her of the decision.
Trump responded, “Nobody even told me about it.”
The public dispute over her departure from the White House spilled onto social media, with Trump characterizing her as “Wacky Omarosa” and claiming that she had been fired multiple times.
“She Never Made It, Never Will”
Trump wrote, “Wacky Omarosa, who got fired 3 times on The Apprentice, now got fired for the last time. She never made it, never will. She begged me for a job, tears in her eyes, I said OK. People in the White House hated her. She was vicious, but not smart. I would rarely see her but heard really bad things.”
He continued, “Nasty to people & would constantly miss meetings & work. When Gen. Kelly came on board he told me she was a loser & nothing but problems. I told him to try working it out, if possible because she only said GREAT things about me – until she got fired!.”
“While I know it’s ‘not presidential’ to take on a lowlife like Omarosa, and while I would rather not be doing so, this is a modern-day form of communication and I know the Fake News Media will be working overtime to make even Wacky Omarosa look legitimate as possible. Sorry!” he added.
His Ego Hired Her
Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident.
One Twitter user wrote, “He hired her because she said nice things about him that fed his ego, regardless of her “credentials,” if any…to each his own.”
Another user added, “Trump will lie, cheat and steal from anyone. This includes the American people. If you really care about America, read what his former associates and administration officials have to say about his nature and character.”
A third user commented, “For those of us who have been paying attention, Omarosa’s claims are not a revelation. We all know Trump is a lying narcissist!”
