The Putin Perspective – Trump’s Persecution Exposes the Rot in the American Political System

The persecution of Former US President Donald Trump shows the rottenness of the US political system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Putin Has Frequently Criticized the US

Putin, who has been the president of Russia for nearly 20 years, has frequently criticized the US for its actions in Ukraine and its role in the NATO bloc, which has expanded toward the Russian borders during Putin’s time in office.

Meanwhile, Trump has praised the Russian leader as stronger and more strategic than Barack Obama during his time in the Oval Office.

Trump has also touted his good relations with Putin during his term.

While the U.S.-Russia diplomatic relations were still frigid during Trump’s presidency, they plunged to the pre-Cold War lows during Biden’s time in office after the Ukraine invasion.

“The Rottenness of the American Political System”

Putin has denied that Trump had special ties with Russia.

“As for the prosecution of Trump, for us what is happening in today’s conditions, in my opinion, is good because it shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others democracy,” Putin said at an Eastern Economic Forum gathering in Russia’s city of Vladivostok located on the country’s far east.

“Everything that is happening with Trump is the persecution of a political rival for political reasons. That’s what it is. And this is being done in front of the public of the United States and the whole world,” he said.

Trump, who is the Republican frontrunner, is facing a slew of criminal charges related to his attempts to interfere with election results, falsifying business documents, and illegally withholding classified materials.

Trump Is the First President To Have His Mugshot Taken

Trump has to attend in 2024 amid his campaign for the White House. He has been criminally indicted four times.

The Georgia 2020 election investigation resulted in an indictment. Trump became the first president to have his mugshot taken as he turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail on 24 August.

The investigation was partly sparked by a leaked phone call in which the former president asked Georgia’s top election official to “find 11,780 votes.”

No president, vice president or former president had ever been indicted in US history.

… Which Made Him $7 Million!

However, Trump’s legal woes have also been a boon, as he raised an impressive amount of money off his indictments thanks to his loyal following.

Trump fundraised an impressive $7 million off his mug shot since Thursday when he was booked into the jail in Georgia. Authorities allege that he illegally tried to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.

Steven Cheung, Trump’s campaign spokesman in the 2023-24 Republican primary said that following Trump’s mugshot, the campaign brought in $4.18 million, which is its highest-grossing day.

Donald Trump has also been criminally charged in a separate federal investigation into efforts to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election.

The 45-Page Indictment…

The 45-page indictment contains four counts: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

The counts stem from the former president’s actions in the wake of the 2020 election and his alleged role in the 6 January Capitol riot, which occurred while Congress was meeting to certify Biden’s victory.

Despite his legal drama, Trump remains the frontrunner in the 2024 presidential election. He is far ahead of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

“We Will Talk About It”

Trump’s criminal cases are set to go on trial next year, which will be in the middle of his presidential campaign, if he becomes the Republican Party’s nominee.

Russia is also on track to have a presidential election in 2024, however, Putin hedged when asked if he would seek another term in office.

“We will talk about it” after the Russian parliament sets an election date, he said.
