Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on his one-time loyal vice president, Mike Pence, for what he perceived as betrayal. Here’s the whole story.
Pence Has Gone to the ‘Dark Side’
Trump accused Pence of spreading false information about his actions during the January 6th Capitol riots.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform and questioned Pence’s sudden shift from being a staunch supporter.
On September 6, Trump wrote, “For 7 years Mike Pence only spoke well of me. Now he’s decided to go to the ‘Dark Side.’”
“Why didn’t he do this years before, just like why didn’t the DOJ and Deranged Jack Smith bring these Fake Indictments three years ago,” he continued.
“Why Did They Wait Until the Middle of My Campaign Where I Am Beating Desanctimonious?”
“Why did they wait until the middle of my Campaign where I am beating DeSanctimonious and all others badly, and beating Biden in almost every Poll?” he added.
The former President didn’t stop there. In a second tweet, he continued his tirade against his former vice president, accusing Pence of fabricating stories about him.
Trump vehemently denied ever asking Pence to put him above the Constitution, a charge that Pence had implied.
He wrote, “Mike failed badly on calling out Voter Fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election, and based on the fact that he is at approximately 2 percent in the Polls, with no money or support, he obviously did the wrong thing.”
“His Advisors Have Led Him Down a Very Bad Path!”
“His advisors have led him down a very bad path!” he added.
Pence, who launched his own presidential campaign, has said, “I believe anyone that puts themselves over the Constitution should never be president of the United States, and anyone who asks someone else to put them over the Constitution should never be president of the United States again.”
Pence’s recent speech at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College underscored this current political divide.
“Such a Weasel”
In his address, he said, “When Donald Trump ran for president in 2016, he promised to govern as a conservative. And together, we did just that.”
“But it’s important for Republicans to know that he and his imitators in this Republican primary make no such promise today,” he added.
Several social media users shared their thoughts on the incident.
One user wrote, “The middle of his campaign? lol. We all know why Trump launched his campaign way early. Such a weasel.”
“Who in God’s Name Would Believe Anything Trump Says?”
Another user added, “Being Trump’s VP has to be the biggest regret of Pence’s life. Licked his boots for 4 years and got kicked to the curb.”
A third user commented, “Who in god’s name would believe anything Trump says? He lies about everything, big or small, absolutely useless to him. Congenitally unable to be truthful.”
