Trump’s an “Evil” “Wannabe Tough Guy” – Robert De Niro’s Personality Assassination Know No Bounds…

Robert De Niro has taken aim at Donald Trump numerous times over the last few years. But the legendary actor saved some of his harshest criticisms of Trump for a speech he wrote recently. He referred to the former President as “evil” and a “wannabe tough guy” in it.

Robert De Niro Despises Donald Trump

Robert De Niro is not a fan of Donald Trump. He’s let the world know this time and time again ever since Trump made the decision to run for President back in 2016.

Over the last seven years, De Niro has repeatedly taken aim at Trump.

He’s done a number of interviews that have included him calling Trump a variety of names. In the past, the legendary actor has referred to Trump as “totally crazy” and “blatantly stupid” while also calling him a “punk,” “con man,” “pig,” “real racist,” and “white supremacist.”

Trump has seemingly refused to get into a war of words with De Niro. But he has responded to his barbs at times.

Trump’s Response

Shortly after De Niro took the stage at the Tony Awards in 2018 and used an expletive while talking about him, Trump fired back on Twitter by calling De Niro a “very Low IQ individual” and saying that he must have been “punch-drunk” during his Tony Awards appearance.

Even though Trump is no longer President, De Niro hasn’t shied away from continuing to send shots in his direction.

He did it yet again this week while writing a speech for an event he was scheduled to attend.

De Niro was supposed to deliver his speech at The New Republic’s Stop Trump Summit in New York City.

De Niro Calls Trump “Evil”

Unfortunately, he tested positive for COVID-19 right before the event and wasn’t able to attend.

But he sent former Trump official Miles Taylor, of all people, to give his speech for him.

De Niro didn’t pull any punches in his speech about Trump. In it, he went as far as to say that he believes Trump is “evil” as opposed to just “bad,” as he’s said in the past.

“I’ve spent a lot of time studying bad men,” DeNiro wrote for his speech. “I’ve examined their characteristics, their mannerisms, the utter banality of their cruelty. Yet there’s something different about Donald Trump. When I look at him, I don’t see a bad man. Truly. I see an evil one.”

Just a Gangster and “Wannabe Tough Guy.”

De Niro went on to say that Trump is an awful lot like many of the gangsters he’s met over the years while working as an actor. “He tries to be one,” De Niro wrote, “but he can’t quite pull it off.”

While comparing Trump to gangsters, De Niro also accused Trump of not having a reliable moral code to fall back on.

“Even criminals have a sense of right and wrong,” he wrote. “Whether they do the right thing or not is a different story, but they have a moral code, however warped. Donald Trump does not.”

New Yorkers Know…

At one point during his speech, De Niro even lambasted Trump for being a “wannabe tough guy with no morals or ethics.”

He wrote: “No regard for anyone but himself—not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him, blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves his ‘friends.’ He has contempt for all of them.”

De Niro also segued into a part of his speech that dealt directly with New York City and New Yorkers’ relationship with Trump.

“He poisoned the atmosphere and littered our city with monuments to his ego,” he wrote. “We knew first-hand that this was someone who should never be considered for leadership. We tried to warn the world in 2016.”

Getting a Reaction

As expected, De Niro’s speech stirred up a lot of emotions online, especially on social media sites like X.

Some people agreed with his assessment of Trump, while others started taking shots at him for not showing the former Leader of the Free World more respect.

“Way to go calling out despicable Trump,” one person wrote on X, before writing about how Trump should not be voted President again. “A perfect takedown of that ‘wannabe dictator’ Trump,” another person wrote on X. “It’s time to #DumpTrump for good!”

“Many of De Niro’s statements regarding Trump were terrible and offensive to the American people,” one X user wrote. “I no longer watch any of his movies and to me De Niro is repulsive.”

Don’t Vote for Trump!

Another X user added: “Go away De Niro not everyone cares what you think of another person. We care about our country and Trump’s policy.”

When De Niro wasn’t calling Trump names in his speech, he was urging Americans not to vote for him for another term as President. “Democracy won’t survive the return of a wannabe dictator,” he wrote.

De Niro also concluded his speech by making a suggestion to others who aren’t on board with the idea of Trump becoming President again.

He invited these people to “reach out to Trump’s followers with respect” and express their concerns about his potential return to office. “[We] won’t get them all,” De Niro wrote, “but we can get enough to end the nightmare of Trump.”
