Trump lashes out after his former chief of staff speaks out against him.
“Lowlife With a Very Small Brain”
In a recent digital showdown, former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on his former chief of staff, John Kelly, branding him a “lowlife with a very small brain and a very big mouth.”
These remarks come in the wake of Kelly confirming reports of Trump’s derogatory attitude toward members of the US armed forces.
Trump’s Unfiltered Commentary
The clash erupted on Truth Social, Trump’s preferred platform for unfiltered commentary after being banned from various other platforms. Kelly had recently spoken to CNN, corroborating stories about Trump’s dismissive behavior toward wounded and deceased soldiers and their families.
In response, Trump wasted no time in unleashing his criticism, asserting that Kelly was the “dumbest of my military people” and incapable of performing effectively in his roles as chief of staff and homeland security secretary.
Mutual Animosity
Trump, known for his no-holds-barred approach, stated that he fired Kelly “like a ‘dog’,” a phrase reminiscent of Trump’s reality TV persona on the show The Apprentice. This move, despite his reputation for avoiding confrontations when terminating employees, underscored the animosity between the two men.
John Kelly departed the Trump administration in December 2018, and since then, he has been widely suspected of being a source for reports and books that shed light on Trump’s dismissive stance toward military personnel.
Kelly’s CNN Appearance
This week, Kelly, who lost his son in Afghanistan, took to CNN to discuss these matters on the record.
In his CNN appearance, Kelly did not hold back, criticizing Trump’s stance on various issues, describing him as “a person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women.”
Kelly continued, calling him “a person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action.”
Dealing one final blow, Kelly finished “A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our constitution, and the rule of law”
Trump’s Comeback
Trump, in response, continued his offensive, asserting that Kelly “had no heart or respect for people, so I hit him hard – made no difference to me. He’s already on record defending me all over the place. Nobody loves the military like I do! Now he finally speaks back by making up fake stories, or confirming the made-up stories of the Dem[ocrats] and radical left.”
Trump continued, “He’s a lowlife with a very small brain and a very big mouth … numerous people are angry and upset because they know they will never be in a new Trump administration, but only for one reason, they’re not nearly good enough. Kelly would be among those at the top of the list!”
Continues to Dominate Polls
Despite Trump facing a barrage of legal challenges, including criminal charges and civil threats, he continues to dominate 2024 Republican presidential polling. The wide margins by which he leads in these polls underscore the enduring influence he wields within the Republican Party.
The exchange between Donald Trump and John Kelly offers a glimpse into the ongoing turmoil within the US political landscape.
“God Help Us”
Kelly’s final remarks echo the rising fear of most Americans amidst the chaos of the upcoming election as Trump continues to launch verbal attacks at anyone who speaks out against him, “There is nothing more that can be said. God help us”.
