This wife has had enough of her mother-in-law constantly speaking ill of her due to religious differences. In this story, the mother-in-law continues to bad-mouth the wife, even after the birth of her grandchild! Now she’s wondering if she should ban the mother-in-law from ever seeing the child.
Her MIL Hatefully Apposed Their Wedding
A newly married woman has made a bold choice to keep her distance from her mother-in-law (MIL).
Before getting married, her husband’s mum opposed their wedding due to different religious views, the MIL and the woman’s husband were both born Mormon, whereas the wife is an agnostic.
They got married anyway, but MIL wasn’t happy and constantly badmouthed the wife, accusing her of being too clingy and controlling their conversations.
When the wife got pregnant, things got worse. The MIL accused her of turning her son against her and making all his decisions for him.
And Went Berserk After They Had a Baby
When the wife declared that they needed alone time after the baby’s birth, the MIL went berserk!
She insulted the wife and claimed it was her right to see the baby. The wife had had enough. She didn’t want her child involved in their drama.
The couple tried to find a solution, but the wife couldn’t ignore the constant disrespect.
She decided to have a neutral relationship with the MIL, allowing her to see the child but drawing the line if she spoke ill of the wife in front of the child.
She Endured Constant Negativity
Now the question is: Is she wrong for this choice? Some say she should make peace for her husband’s sake.
But enduring constant negativity and insults, is that fair? Shouldn’t a mother protect her child from such toxic behavior?
In the end, the wife’s priority is her child’s well-being. But now she has turned to Reddit to see if her decision was correct.
“Why Did You Marry a Man Who Doesn’t Have Your Back?”
One user slammed the MIL, “Stop letting his mother have access to your child. There is no reason that someone who speaks so ill of you should get any access to you or your child.”
Another accused the husband of not supporting his wife, “Why did you marry a man who doesn’t have your back?”
