With a Mere 37 Counts(!), DeSantis Says He Is Willing To Pardon Trump if He Wins the Election – Is This in the Best Interest of the Country?

In a recent sit-down interview with conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly, Ron DeSantis implied that he would consider pardoning former President Donald Trump if he were to win the presidency. Here’s the full story.

Spare Trump So That the Nation Can Move Forward?

During the interview, DeSantis expressed concerns about the implications of an almost 80-year-old former president facing prison time and emphasized the need for the nation to move forward, leaving past controversies behind.

He said, “At the end of the day, it’s like, do we want to move forward as a country? Or do we want to be mired in these past controversies? And I think the public wants a fresh start.”

He also spoke out against what he termed the “weaponization of the government,” pledging to put an end to practices that undermine the cause of freedom.

“It’s not just about one person, it’s about, do we have a rule of law? Or is it just about wielding power against people you don’t like?” Desantis said, referring to Trump’s ongoing legal issues.

Ensure Fair Trials for All Citizens

He added, “And so everything that happens in this case and others for me is seen through that prism of a DOJ and FBI that have totally lost their way and they’ve been weaponized against the public. I think in DC there’s a big problem that we have in terms of being able to get fair trials.”

While he specifically referred to Trump’s legal issues in this context, DeSantis implied that this problem extended beyond one individual, asserting that it was crucial to uphold the rule of law and ensure fair trials for all citizens.

Donald Trump’s legal troubles have been a subject of intense scrutiny and controversy.

In late March, he became the first current or former President in U.S. history to face criminal charges when a grand jury indicted him in connection with an alleged hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election.

Trump Faces 37 Counts

Consequently, in August 2022, Trump faced 37 counts related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents discovered during a raid at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Trump and his spokesperson, Steven Cheung, have vehemently denied these allegations, characterizing them as part of a politically motivated witch hunt orchestrated by the Biden administration.

Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident.

“A Political Decision Not in the Best Interest of America“

One Youtube user wrote, “Actually after Nixon was pardoned, most Americans were quite upset and felt the pardon was a mistake and a political decision not in the best interest of America“

Another user wrote, “Then Pardon all the 80-year-olds that’s locked up while you at it.”
